Now I have Monarch Caterpillars on one group of Milkweeds and I expect them to eat most of the leaves like the Queen Caterpillars did a month ago and that milkweed grew right back. So whoopee! I planted the milkweed thinking it was attracting Monarchs. I guess it worked because I got big hungry caterpillars like in your pictures. I guess I expected something different, but whatever works! I’m from the Santa Cruz, California area and we love our Monarchs there.
The leaves will grow back and the caterpillars will return as Monarchs. Good luck on your garden and butterfly sightings!
Hurrah for Monarchs! They are just getting to leave Massachusetts for their long journey!
And yours fly all the way to Mexico which is incredible! The ones here in Costa Rica are lazier and just stay here year-around! Like me! 🙂
