  1. Thanks for sending me these daily pictures that you have taken! I look forward to your emails daily. I am visiting this wonderful country after retiring from teaching in Colorado USA. I may relocate, but want to make sure I am aclimating to culture and life here. I have been here a month and I love it!

    1. Anna-Maria,

Thanks for your kind words! I too am a nature lover and thus appreciate other nature-lovers like you. I am retired from Nashville, TN and did my last three years of work in The Gambia, West Africa where I became a birder and general nature photographer as a hobby, but felt I could not manage living the rest of my life there with their corrupt government and lack of medical facilities and personnel.

But Costa Rica has it all and I too love it here! I have now been here 11 years with not one return to the states. I live in the Central Valley coffee farming town of Atenas and travel the entire country for nature photography, though I have slowed down since my 2021 cancer surgery and radiotherapy. I can be happy with the butterflies in my little garden behind a little rental casita here, though I still travel occasionally.

I wish you the best in your possible plans of moving here. I highly recommend two helps for such a move: ARCR, the Association of Residents of Costa Rica with their 2-day seminar on how to move here. Plus I found the “Live in Costa Rica” Tour by Christopher Howard to be helpful. Use the CONTACT page on this website to contact me.
