Common Mylon

This is another new species for me! And I keep finding them in my own garden! The Common Mylon – Mylon maimon (linked to Wikipedia) is found from Mexico to Argentina. One of the many Skippers. And on iNaturalist Costa Rica my observation is only the 13th in Costa Rica and I’m only the 10th person to report seeing one. But one of those others has the best photos I’ve seen and on his own website: Dr. Heiner Ziegler, MD (Switzerland). Costa Rica attracts nature lovers from all around the world!

Tonight in Tortuguero!

After another new species in my own garden, you may wonder why I go to these national parks? Simply because there are even more species there and some that I will never have in my garden, like monkey, sloth, crocodile and the hundreds of different water birds!

For the next four days I will be posting on the blog each evening rather than ahead of time for early morning delivery as I do from home. For example, the above post was done 8 days ago, while when traveling they are always in real time daily from Tortuga Lodge & Gardens.

Tortuguero National Park has always been one of my several “favorite places” for nature photos as you can see from my previous Trip Galleries:
