He/she (male & female identical) was unfortunately in the tree shadows, but this very common bird all over Costa Rica was in my Cecropia Tree the other morning for breakfast and I tried a photo capture. Photographed on the morning of December 11, 2021, Roca Verde, Atenas, Costa Rica. Yes, my blog posts were finished for December by that date, so I just held this one! 🙂
¡Pura Vida!
These beautiful birds are just about everywhere. They do eat a lot of butterflies, which for me is a bit sad, as I love having lots of both in the garden. So I watch the revolving ups & downs of each of their visits, and hope both lay plenty of eggs…
Yes – nature can be both beautiful and sad, but even the butterfly that is eaten brings a bit of pollination and color to the garden first! 🙂
