Antshrike, Antbirds and Woodpeckers in Nicaragua

Maybe a strange combo but they do all eat bugs!  🙂

Barred Antshrike, Montibelli Nature Reserve, Nicaragua

Dusky Antbird, Montibelli Nature Reserve, Nicaragua

Bi-colored Antbird, El Jaguar Nature Reserve, Nicaragua

Hoffman’s Woodpecker Montibelli Nature Reserve, Nicaragua

Golden-olive Woodpecker
Selva Negra Mountain Resort, Nicaragua

In my Costa Rica Birds photo gallery there is a sub-gallery of Woodpeckers with 6 species that only duplicates the Hoffman’s seen here. And for the ants, I have only the Chestnut-backed Antbird. These antbirds are usually small, on the forest floor, and difficult to see or photograph. So I’m thankful for the three found in Nicaragua!
