See Yesterday’s Post for the other 9 photos of birds there that I’m sharing, including a Squirrel Cuckoo and Laughing Falcon. Then Monday I shared only the Harris’s Hawk, maybe my favorite, which we saw driving back from Cañon Negro.

So far, every new trip I make in Costa Rica yields at least one new species of birds photo for me. And this trip was no exception! On this post the new ones for me are the Mangrove Cuckoo and Black-collared Hawk. And new ones the last two days were the Harris’s Hawk and Laughing Falcon! Four more species added to my collection this week! Not bad!
And that collection is my Birds photo gallery

These photos were all made by me on a 16 December 2016 float trip on the Tarcoles River, Costa Rica, this time with the Jungle Crocodile Safari which specializes in bird watching as opposed to a focus on crocodiles on most of the other companies. I also like Jose and the Jose’s Crocodile Tour, but his one finds more birds for you, about 35 species this trip, and provides a flyer for photo-identification of the birds. Plus if you take the 8:30 AM tour you will see more birds early AND you miss the tour bus crowds. There were just 4 of us plus our guide on our boat this time at 8:30 and when we returned we noticed that the next boat was packed full!

14 more bird photos tomorrow from this same trip.

Tarcoles Catch-up Photos

On March 24, our first night at Manuel Antonio, we had a slow internet connection and I only shared one beach sunset photo. Here’s a few of many from our stop on the Tarcoles River enroute to beach.

This was my third time on the Tarcoles River and we always see and photograph more than 20 species of birds along with the promoted crocs and usually basilisks and iguanas plus some other lizards. That night I got lots of different kinds of beach sunset photos. Here’s one more I just have to show:
