The Motmot is sitting on the gutter of my house looking down into my gardens for insects to eat. 🙂 And remember that my house is on the side of a hill, so I can walk up the hill and look down on my roof. 🙂 The motmots are more frequent this year which maybe makes up for the fewer toucans I see now. See more photos in my gallery: Lesson’s Motmot. (From all over Costa Rica.)

And read on for a link to the newest Costa Rica nature video on YouTube… And the unexpected death of my next door neighbor.

Uncovering Hidden Gems
And just yesterday I discovered this new YouTube Aerial Video of views of places all over Costa Rica with no vocal, just background music and word labels indicating the place, national park, town or even some shots from the uglier big city of San Jose and the over-developed Guanacaste rich people resorts. It is 19 minutes, but worth the time, even if not my favorite video of Costa Rica. 🙂 Includes wildlife & lots of nature.
And yes, I’ve been to most of those places, outside Guanacaste, and seen almost every one of those waterfalls and national parks (and actually a lot more)! 🙂 Beautiful Costa Rica!

George Holmes found dead last night . . .
My next door neighbor from Arizona evidently laid down for his usual afternoon nap yesterday and never woke up. (The way I hope to go.)
Last night between 6:30 & 7:00 some friends of George were at the gate hollering for him with no response in person or by phone and then used the gate phone which goes to the landlord’s house. K then tried to call and again no response. He let the friends in the gate and they banged on his door for awhile with no response, then went around back to look in his bedroom window where they saw him in bed. They called the local ambulance who declared him dead with probably a heart attack (or sometimes the heart just stops). They called the police who came out for more paperwork and the ambulance can’t remove a body, but a special vehicle the police call have to come for the body. So ambulance left and just police there now. It is 8:15 (last night) as I write this and the police are still waiting. K called George’s sister to inform her. For the locals who read this, that is all I know. K is handling it very well and of course speaks fluent Spanish which really helps. It is kind of a shock for all right now.
George and I were good neighbors to each other, friendly and helpful to each other, but not otherwise close, mainly because of political differences and no similar interests. Me in nature and him in country/rock music and watching TV, literally all day. But it will seem strange to not see or greet my old long-haired neighbor across the driveway. And when I eventually get another neighbor, it will be my fourth neighbor in that house during my 11 years here and a whole new experience. Just another part of the continuing adventure of being “Retired in Costa Rica!” 🙂
Rest in Peace George.
P.S. — Their “special vehicle” finally got here at 10:30 last night and left with the body at 11. That was the closure. Quiet around here this morning.
