Blue-gray Tanager

The Blue-gray Tanager (eBird Link) is another bird I’ve seen here in San Jose, first on the other side of “the big tree” or Indian Laurel, thus not good photos with the distance and then later a little closer but with bad light. He is a common bird we see frequently all over Costa Rica and is found only in Central America and Northern South America. I have a lot of much better photos in my Blue-gray Tanager Gallery from all over Costa Rica! 🙂

  1. Thanks Arturo! I always like to know what local people call a bird!

Mi book Aves de Costa Rica Guía, dice que los dos “nombres comunes” son Viudita y Viuda, enumerando el nombre “oficial” como Tangara Azuela. Múltiples nombres hacen que un pájaro sea más interesante. 🙂

  2. Today in the feeders and on our little pond here in New Hampshire we saw: blue jays, Baltimore orioles, hummingbirds, chickadees , morning doves, yellow rump warbler, cardinals, wood and mallard ducks, starlings , chipmunks deer and squirrels, 3 kinds of woodpeckers. Lovely. However we are so COLD !!! —- do you have any suggestions how we might resolve this being cold issue ? ??? . We bought a new Spanish program today.
    Be well Charley!
