Rain Trees

Or “Tree Trunks in the Rain!” which sounds like it could be a song or poem in addition to one of my “Nature as Art” experiments. I was sitting on my terrace watching it rain when I got the inspiration to photograph the wet tree trunks during the rain – and yes, they do look different when wet.

You could do this anywhere in the world with many different kinds of trees, so give yourself a “quarantine break” for a little creativity – try it!

This is the kind of thing I really expected to do more of in retirement and in this blog – so maybe I will now!  🙂

And oh yes! The rainy season has started! Good rains two days in a row! (Saturday & Sunday) My favorite time of year! And it is made even better because tourists don’t like to come when it’s raining! More peaceful!   🙂

    1. ¡Muchas gracias Arturo! Me gusta toda la naturaleza y tratar de capturarla en fotos. “Capturarla” es un nuevo palabra para mi. 🙂

  1. Mucho Hermoso ! I hope to experience the rain season someday. Ultimate wish—- to someday to not be called a tourist. (Sigh)

  2. Very Nice Charlie. We would usually have gone back to Canada by now but are staying no idea how long. Good opportunity to see if I can stand the rainy season.
When they open up for domestic tourism, we would like to go somewhere for a few days – maybe Monteverde. Do you know of a small lodge where they need the business and we would be able to go for walks or sit and watch birds?

    1. Margaret, I think the best place to stay in Monteverde is the Monteverde Lodge & Gardens with both forest and garden walks! Plus if you want to go to one of the reserves (which you should) they also have the very best guides there. Every lodge needs business now. Their website is: https://www.monteverdelodge.com/

I don’t know of any lodges near Palmares but a good place for breakfast with a lot of rare birds is Soda & Mirador Cinchona, their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Soda-Y-Mirador-Cinchona/250117805365160 or maybe better, see my blog post on it: https://www.charliedoggett.net/2018/08/26/soda-y-mirador-cinchona/. They are up there near La Paz on the side of a mountain.

  3. Charlie, good pictures. We would normally have gone back to Canada by now but are staying who knows how long. When they open up for domestic tourism, we would like to go away for a few days. Do you know of a small lodge where they need the business and where we could go for walks or sit and watch the birds – maybe within a 3 hour drive of Palmares.?
