Though I plan to simplify and bring more focus to this site, it will continue to be a . . .
A Photo & Information Rich Database
It began in 2000 as reports of my missionary work in The Gambia, West Africa. By 2004 I had turned it into a nature photography business site called Nature as Art. In 2009 it was morphing into a personal information site and by 2013 Enjoying Retirement became the title, with a goal of information & photos about things important to me. In June 2013 my web host switched to a new web CMS program called Joomla! As I rebuild in this new template I'm even more excited about the creative possibilities, since being creative is one reason I do a website. I love to create things of value and beauty! Your comments are encouraged, as I desire to improve this site.
When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs.
When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.
I'm trying to include more that will be useful in research and study of narrow-focused subjects. For example, under "Features" menu is the nineteenth century Brig Charles Doggett for which I have amassed more information than anyone online. (It's kind of exciting to have a historic ship with my name!) Similarly under the "Family" menu is my research on the Williamson County Hardgrave Cemetery where my 5 Great Grandfather of revolutionary war is buried. Also there is the World War II casualty story of my Uncle Earl Doggett. More such features are to come! Plus I will continue to add information about my love of The Gambia, new love of Central America, look for ways to present my photography, and share appropriate information about myself under the "About" menu. Also started in 2013-14 are four blogs listed at right. Please read and leave your comments! Currently the main focus is the Costa Rica Blog, but I will gradually get back to the other three.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6, King James Version, as first memorized
Here I share my dependence on God.
The core of man's spirit comes from new experiences.
Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild
Here I share my new experiences.
Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.
Here I hope you sense my imagination which runs wild most of the time!
One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure."
-- William Feather, American publisher
And here the adventure is shared, sometimes daily on my blogs.
