This is an easy hike to the falls of only 1.5 miles. It can be extended with another mile to a terrific overlook or even further if desired. Plus this hike can be followed up by other easy hikes to such places as Greeter Falls or Suter Falls and even maybe Rutledge Falls, making it a waterfalls day.
This is a beautiful waterfall and a good symbol of the greater Savage Gulf. There is a campground near the falls if you wanted a beginner's backpacking trip. The more adventurous may backpack past this to Hobbs Cabin and even on down into the gulf for multiple days of backpacking crossing the gulf to Stone Door or Alum Gap or back up the beginning side to Suter Falls or Collins Gulf. This would have to be discussed and carefully planned. Taking enough food and water for multiple days makes it more of a challenge!
For most people I recommend the day hike with maybe one or two other easy waterfall hikes added for a full day.
