I am a driver-training instructor for AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) and would love to schedule a class for your organization or business in Nashville or surrounding counties. The best way to begin a dialogue about a class is to email me. Or if you prefer to talk, call (615) 780-3898.
To learn more about the AARP driving class, see their website at http://www.aarp.org/families/driver_safety/
It is designed for persons age 50 and older and EVERY PARTICIPANT RECEIVES A DISCOUNT ON INSURANCE with all insurance companies! It is the oldest and best driver training class for senior adults in the nation. And it is fun!
In short, it is 8 hours usually done as 4 hours on each of two days. There is a workbook and video to go with every session. Most sponsors provide coffee and sometimes goodies for the coffee break times. Some even schedule it around a lunch which you can provide or have participants bring a sack lunch. It becomes a fun adult activity!
SPONSORS include churches, synagogues, senior centers, community centers, many organizations and businesses. Your responsibility as the sponsor is to provide the following:
- A room for up to 35 maximum participants. The facility should be able to accommodate people with disabilities.
- Chairs and tables which are preferably moveable. We like for participants to sit around tables so they can easily write in their workbooks.
- The usual lighting and temperature controls.
- Media equipment for showing either a DVD or VHS video.
In addition, the sponsor provides the following where possible:
- Whiteboard, chalkboard or large flip chart
- Podium or speaker's stand
- Publicity and announcements to your group and to the general public if invited (you choose if a closed group or open to public)
- Walk-in and telephone registration with phone number to put on website - just need names or a head count before the class starts with limit of 35
- Microphone/sound system (highly recommended for our target audience).
